VA CAR TITLES NOW UNDER
ATTACK
What We
Have Said All Along!
January 13, 2009
At Borrow Smart we have shouted to all who will listen
that if payday or title lending is attacked the other is
certain to follow. That means we work closely
together in a cooperative effort (as in
Borrow
Smart) to protect ourselves. We don't do the
opposite!
Last year Virginia (along with Ohio) was the "mother of
all state battles" on the payday front. They did
not win, but they were not totally legislated out of
business as Ohio was. They were, however, clearly
impacted in a quite negative way by the legislation that
passed last year. Now comes this year and guess
who is the target? If you guessed title lenders
you would be 100% correct.
So, click on the picture
below and take a look at just some of the media coverage
in Virginia.
Now, for a comparison, click on the picture below to see
how Borrow Smart Alabama works to get coverage for our
industry in Alabama and
click here to see how Borrow Smart Mississippi does
the same for Mississippi. Notice a difference?
To read the entire story, click on the image to the
right. It is quite interesting that not
one single title operator was willing to comment
on the story. If they know this is coming at them
like a rocket, where is the industry media spokesperson?
Why is the industry not visible and presenting their
side? Whey are they dependent on a
CRL clone, the Virginia Interfaith Center, to be the
only spokesperson? These are all reasonable
questions in a situation like this.
By the way, "we know" the secret of how these
groups are connected to the CRL, we know about their
"playbook" and we know how this leads to the CRL's
resounding success! Click
here and
here to see exactly how they do it and then compare
that to the article from Virginia. Do you see the
connection? Why would anyone not take PR action
and reach out to the advisory groups when we all know
exactly how the plan unfolds?
We wish the operators in Virginia good luck, because
they will sure need it! Based on what we've seen
so far, unless they begin fighting the real battle (the
media & public opinion) it seems pretty obvious where
this is headed!
