Arise & CRL Launch Industry Attack Here!
November 18, 2008 - Update
T
he
Montgomery Advertiser
has printed our response to the CRL/Alabama Arise
article as noted in the original post on October 27th
below. You can
read the response here. The Mobile Press
Register also ran our response on November 2. So,
all of the major statewide papers who ran the
original
hit piece have now published our response.
As
we've said many times, these unwarranted and inaccurate attacks on
our industry do have consequences and as we have
demonstrated on many occasions, it is critically important (and possible)
to get the true facts about our industry out into the public arena.

The
Birmingham News
has printed our response to the CRL/Alabama Arise
article as noted in the November 4th update below.

November 4, 2008 - Update
The
same article as described below has now appeared in the
Birmingham News and we have responded with a slightly
abbreviated version of the response below.
October
27, 2008
Alabama Arise and the
Center for Responsible Lending launched a hit piece
against the industry in
the Montgomery Advertiser, the state capitol newspaper, late last week.
We also understand the same article ran in the Mobile
Press Register, but we do not have a copy. You can
click here and read the article from the Advertiser. Clearly these
attacks are the typical pattern of CRL! That is,
to find a local advocacy group to become their
spokesperson. Of course, Alabama Arise does not need much
in the way of encouragement to undertake this effort.
We have answered with
this response. The Montgomery Advertiser and
the Mobile Press Register have
agreed to run our response. We do not expect that
to be until after the elections due to the space taken
up by political coverage. We will post it as soon
as it appears.
Responding to these types
of one-sided, smear attacks against us and our customers
is just one of the things we do at Borrow Smart.
We have launched several initiatives to communicate wise
use of our services in these troubling times and
initiatives to communicate the truth about our industry.

www.BorrowSmartAlabama.com and click on the News
Room tab for information on our latest initiative.
